Patents Application
Patents Application refers to the legal process by which individuals, businesses, or organizations submit a request to a patent office or authority, seeking to obtain exclusive rights over an invention, utility model, or design. This process involves the preparation and filing of detailed documents that describe the invention, undergoing examination by patent examiners, and, if approved, receiving a patent grant that provides protection against unauthorized use or copying of the innovation.
Basic Steps
Step 1
When your team is ready to file a patent, your team should contact MILES-TC through the contact person: Lilin Huang (Legal Advisor) via email lilinh@hku.hk
Step 2
Your team will receive the IDF form provided by Lilin Huang. Fill in the form and send it back; The MILES committee will review the patent application request mainly based on the IDF form.
Step 3
If approved, MILES-TC will introduce and recommend designated patent agents to facilitate the patent drafting and patent filing
Step 4
MILES-TC will continue to support your team post patent filing including reminders for follow-up steps (e.g., PCT filing)
Licensing
